British black humour at its finest:
If you liked Monty Python you will love this movie, ‘starring’ not only the proverbial English village, with church, weekly choir meeting and women’s tea all complete.
But also including a touch of English whodunits:
Murder in the midst of it all.
The charming, mild, learned and at first a little too otherworldly vicar is portrayed with his usual masterly rendering of any role coming his way: Rowan Atkinson.
‘Keeping Mum’ of the title, they all do it: A mother – and numerous secrets they ‘keep mum’ about….
This dreamy village is full of secrets, a life brim-full with human detail…
The most wonderful and memorable scene though has the vicar while reading the ‘Song of Songs’ again – realizing that it is not all religious mysticism.
Love in its true form coming to life!
If you hadn’t already, practically a must-watch!
